Turbulent's R&D has increasingly been focused on the design and development of modular, fish-friendly, submersible vortex generators, making use of small drops (between 1 meter - 5 meter) in river gradients, abundant in rivers and canals around the world.
With its robust and flood proof run-of-the-river micro-hydropower plants, Turbulent moves away from large conventional hydropower with dams and reservoirs, to a sustainable technology allowing fish, debris and sediments to pass through the installation without impact.
Turbulent safeguards river habitats and water access upstream and downstream, while offering off-grid, micro-grid and on-grid distributed electrification solutions with installed capacities of 15kW, 30kW, 50kW, 70kW per turbine, easily scalable to a combination of multiple turbines to increase capacity.
From now on, Turbulent will sell turbines ranging between 15kW and 70kW of power, with a clear focus on turbines of 50kW and 70 kW. For bigger projects, Turbulent developed the expertise and know-how to design and combine multiple turbines, adding benefits of redundancy and adaptability to flow changes. Turbulent's underwater models (up to 70kW) are flood proof, quiet, light and easy to transport and to install. Worldwide there's a growing interest in these flood proof installations and our customers are very pleased with the results.
Turbulent's smallest units of 5kW and 10kW will not be offered anymore because these units are too expensive to manufacture, and don't allow us and our customers to obtain a sustainable solution to our common challenge.
